Aston University has been recently ranked 13th in the UK in The Independent’s Complete University Guide, with the Birmingham institution’s degrees related to Subjects Allied to Medicine rated 1st overall in the country.

The University was also ranked 19th in the UK in The Guardian’s University Guide, the fifth time in six years that Aston has been rated among the top 20 Universities in this Guide. Future career prospects and teaching standards in the National Student Survey were both key strengths, which were highly rated.

The impartial guides are designed to provide prospective and current students with a comprehensive overview of universities, analyses everything from academic strengths and research, through to spending per student and student satisfaction.

Aston University is placed as the 13th best Higher Education establishment overall out of all 113 UK Universities in The Independent. Aston comes top in Birmingham, ahead of the University of Birmingham (27th) and Birmingham City University (59th). In the whole of the Midlands, only the University of Warwick (6th) was ranked higher than Aston.

Birmingham Aston was a constituency of the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. From 1885 until 1918 the constituency was known as Aston Manor, before becoming a Birmingham division from 1918 to 1974. It elected one Member of Parliament (MP) by the first past the post system of election.
